Baru baru ni di negeri Perak agak kecoh dengan kematian dua bayi akibat jangkitan sejenis virus yang dikenali sebagai rotavirus. Sebelum ni rasanya aku pun tak pernah dengar nama virus ni. Kalau keropok udang berjenama rota tu selalu sangat dengar.
Apa tu rotavirus ?
Rotavirus ni adalah sejenis virus yang menyebabkan keradangan usus dan perut. Ianya mengakibatkan cirit birit berair yang teruk, muntah muntah, demam dan sakit perut. Ianya jugak boleh mengakibatkan dehidrasi ke atas bayi dan kanak kanak. Rotavirus ni kebiasaannya menyerang kanak kanak berusia 5 tahun ke bawah dan boleh menyebabkan kematian sekiranya lambat mendapatkan rawatan.
Camne rotavirus tersebar ?
Antara cara penyebaran rotavirus ni adalah melalui air yang tercemar, tangan yang tak dibasuh selepas mengendalikan najis, makanan tercemar dan objek (permainan atau permukaan) tercemar. Rotavirus ni merebak dengan mudah dikalangan kanak kanak kecik.
Tanda tanda jangkitan rotavirus ?
Biasanya bila seseorang individu tu dijangkiti dengan rotavirus, ianya akan mengambil masa dua hari untuk gejala gejala jangkitan dapat dikesan. Antara gejala yang perlu dititik beratkan seperti demam, muntah muntah, cirit birit dan sakit perut. Kehilangan selera makan dan dehidrasi jugak antara tanda tanda jangkitan rotavirus yang perlu diambil berat andainya dapat dikesan.
Camne nak mencegah rotavirus ?
Amalan menjaga kebersihan sebenarnya sebagai langkah langkah awal dalam mencegah apa apa virus pun. Sentiasa mencuci tangan sebelum mengendalikan makanan, mencuci tangan selepas mengendalikan najis, memastikan air yang digunakan tidak tercemar dan vaksinasi kepada bayi secara rutin berjadual.

Andainya kita dijangkiti oleh rotavirus ni, sebenarnya takde ubat ubatan khusus untuk merawat jangkitan rotavirus ni. Cuma yang perlu diberikan perhatian bila ada tanda tanda jangkitan tu bersegeralah berjumpa dengan doktor dan pastikan pesakit terjangkit tidak mengalami dehidrasi akibat kehilangan cecair dalam badan melalui muntah dan cirit birit tu.
Gejala dehidrasi ni kalau nak dikesan antaranya kurang buang air kecil, kering mulut dan tekak dan berasa pening apabila berdiri lama. Cara terbaik untuk mengawal dehidrasi ni adalah dengan banyakkan minum dan kalau nak baik lagi boleh la ke farmasi beli garam rehidrasi (ORS).
